Ethical

Maysand takes an ethical stance to ensure the materials they use on projects come from ethical sources. Our policy was developed as we became increasingly concerned that some stone imported from India, China and elsewhere comes from quarries where the workers are exploited often this can be through the use of child or forced labour. Maysand made its ethical pledge in 2010.

For Maysand ethical sourcing means avoiding using quarries where:
  • Children are used.
  • Workers are forced to work.
  • Workers are not free to join or form trade unions.
  • Workers face unsafe or unhygienic working conditions.
This pledge also states:
  • We will develop ethical sources for all our supply lines.
  • We will do what we can to influence sub-contractors we work with to increase awareness of the issues.
  • We will try to influence other key players in the industry.
